Jesse Simons, viola

Jesse Simons is currently in his junior year at Leonardo Da Vinci High School in Davis. He began his musical career as a classical violist in 4th grade in the Davis Unified School District's school music program, under Kim Cole. He has been studying the viola under Lynne Richburg for the past five years. He as played in three Sacramento Youth Symphony orchestras, most recently in the Premier Orchestra (Michael Neumann, conductor). Last year he sat second stand in the Davis Senior High School Symphony Orchestra, Angelo Moreno, conductor.

Simons played two seasons with the UC Davis Summer Symphony (2006, 2007), and has played with several area duos, quartets, and chamber music worshops and camps. The most recent feather in his musical cap is performing with the California All-State Honor Orchestra at the California Music Educators Association's annual meeting in Sacramento in March 2008. His other musical and non-musical interests include drumming, conducting, composing, active involvement in the California 4-H Youth program, Kenpo Karate in which he holds a blue belt, wrestling with his brothers or cats, reading, or enjoying the outdoors.
