Victoria Lau, horn

Victoria Lau started playing the horn at the age of 14 after trying out various types of instruments such as the tuba, flute, clarinet, and piano, all of which she found no interest in other than the piano. Before entering college, she was a part of an honors out-reach program at UC Berkeley called the Young Musicians Program and was principle horn of the Oakland Youth Orchestra.

Lau is currently a second-year major in civil engineering. She joined the UCD Symphony Orchestra in the 06/07 season. When she's not doing complicated engineering problems, Lau enjoys playing jazz piano, doing gymnastics, and all sorts of fun activities. On most days, Lau can be found practicing outside the Music Building, sometimes playing soft, sometimes playing loud, but other times, just playing. Also, Lau is looking forward to studying abroad sometime in the near future, but hasn't decided when or where yet because she's really bad at making decisions.
