Aaron Gong has been with the UCDSO since the 2006-07 season. He began his musical journey at the age of 6 on the piano. At age 9 he chose the violin to be the instrument of focus from his public elementary school. Along the way he learned to play mallet percussion through high school, but also continued to improve his violin skills. Now he is studying to earn his B.S. in Optical Science and Engineering. Note he does not, nor can he, aspire to be an optometrist, for the major has nothing to do with optometry. Gong would like to continue playing his violin, hopefully by reviving his San Jose quartet, AVVA.
