Philip Daley has been with
the Department
of Music since
November 2006
and is now events
manager for the
department. His
most ambitious
assignment for
his first season was to stage manage the
department’s production of Bizet’s Carmen in May 2007.
Daley graduated with a bachelor’s in
music from UC Davis in 2005. While an
undergraduate, he worked behind the scenes
at the Mondavi Center and as librarian and
general manager for the UCDSO. He played
a major role in coordinating UCDSO’s 2003
tour to France for the Berlioz Bicentenary and
in transitioning the orchestra to its new home
in Jackson Hall.
Immediately after graduation,
Daley worked briefly with Orange County’s
Pacific Symphony.
Daley has also worked with the San Francisco
Symphony and the American Bach Soloists,
and he has conducted several musicals,
including Sondheim’s Into the Woods. He
enjoys playing violin with string quartets for
events and composing. Currently, he is scoring
music for the independent film Nowhere with
Wind-Up Turtle Productions in Los Angeles.
A native Coloradan, Daley is a strong advocate
for sustainable living and thrives in outdoor
environments, where he enjoys hiking,
stargazing, and sailing.
