THE 50th SEASON
Auditions for season-long admission to the UCD Symphony Orchestra will take place on Monday afternoon 22 September 2008 (woodwinds, brass, percussion) and Tuesday afternoon 23 September (strings). You should bring a short work, ususally a concerto movement, that shows your abilities to best advantage.
You may also wish to let the teacher of your instrument know of your intent to audition for the UCDSO: LIST OF STUDIO INSTRUCTORS. Wind, brass, and harp players should consult with the appropriate studio teacher to discover if there are set pieces this year.
The UCDSO rehearses Tuesday night 23 September for its University Convocation appearance on Wednesday morning, 24 September.
We expect vacancies in most sections of the UCDavis Symphony Orchestra for the 2008-09 season. Seats are filled for the entire season; after fall-quarter general auditions, appointment to the UCDSO is limited to the filling of unexpected vacancies. The most efficient way to know about forthcoming vacancies in UCDSO is to be in close contact with the faculty teacher of your instruments (see List of Studio Instructors, referenced above). Thank you for your interest in the UCD Symphony.
Welcome to UC-Davis! We're glad you're here. For more information on the UCD Symphony, get a copy of the brochure Music Performance at UCD. Or drop by the Music Building and find Dave Moschler (assistant conductor), peer adviser Susanna Peeples, or orchestra assistant Elicia Fox (violin). Once admitted to the UCD Symphony you should make certain your records are complete (database, biographical sketch, photograph, e-mail list). See also Ground Rules.
