et parfums, mer colorée (07:34) — La ronde sur le falaise (scherzo)
(03:44) — Là-bas, très loin, sur la mer (04:04)
DESCRIPTION: 2 discs, 78 rpm, 12 in.
NOTES: Work apparently composed in mid-1929; first performed 12 October 1929 (not SdC; see Baker's Biographical Dictionary); perf. by the SdC in Luxembourg, 12 April 1930; Vevey, 27 September 1930; and in Paris, Salle des Concerts, 16 November 1930 (as 1re audition au Conservatoire). A dating guide by Peter Copeland of the National Sound Archive, London, suggests a date in the first half of 1930 for this recording; this is consistent with the Columbia contract in effect until 13 February 1930, on which date a new contract was concluded with Gramphone that effectively separated the Gaubert (a Columbia artist) from the orchestra's recordings; see book, pp. 432-33. The date of composition 1931 as sometimes given for this work apparently results from a confusion with Gaubert's "sequel," Les Chant de la terre.
